Early Years

From russia to the United States

Nataly started her violin education at age three in a small town right outside of Moscow, Russia with Alla Nikolaevna Murugova. In addition to private lessons, Alla Nikolaevna would conduct group classes and concerts with her full violin studio. As a result of Anna Nikolaevna's hard work, the violin ensembled toured through Russia, Ukraine, and Bulgaria.

At age 7 Nataly went on to study with Galina Stepanovna Turchaninova, one of the wonderful teachers who formed Maxim Vengerov's career. Between 2001 and 2008 the family lived in Maryland, United States; at this time Nataly studied with Leri Slutsky and Emil Chudnovsky, both wonderful pedagogues in their own right.

In 2008, Nataly moved back to Moscow to continue her violin education at the Central Music School - a specialized high school with a focus on music performance. She graduated with a diploma in violin performance and pedagogy in 2012.

Moscow Conservatory

Foray into Bluegrass & Celtic music

In 2012 Nataly won a full scholarship to attend the Moscow State Conservatory in Moscow, Russia. This gave her the opportunity to truly explore the music scene in the big city, and she was delighted to find out it was full of different cultures and genres.

She connected with the Bluegrass musicians at the U.S. Embassy and joined their jams on violin and nyckelharpa.

Nataly was fortunate to meet Diana Uspenskaya, a fellow "classical musician turned improviser", they busked all over Moscow during their student years. Diana and Nataly still collaborate to this day whenever the occasion permits for it.

Peabody Conservatory

Moving back to the US

In 2015 Nataly won a full scholarship to attend the Peabody Conservatory and chose to move back to the United States and relocate to Baltimore, Maryland. There she studied with two esteemed professors - Victor Danchenko, and Herbert Greenberg.

Upon graduating in 2017, she won auditions for several local orchestras - Annapolis Symphony, Maryland Symphony, and Allentown Symphony. Her love for improvised music lead her to the Django Reinhardt jazz scene in Baltimore, and she started performing as a jazz musician in 2018.

Strathmore Residency

Switching focus to jazz violin

In 2019 Nataly was accepted into the Strathmore Artist in Residence program, a yearly class of 6 artists curated by Betty Scott. Though the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the residency, Nataly and her classmates were able to conclude it in 2021. Being part of the Strathmore family allowed Nataly to develop into a professional jazz violinist and perform at incredible venues and events.

Current life in Washington D.C.
